NETFLIX

April 2026: This is from the privacy newsletter from DuckDuckGo. I can not find it the newsletter issues on their website. Quoting:

Netflix recently sent out an email informing subscribers of updates to their Terms of Use & Privacy Statement. In the email, they said, 'We updated the language about advertising so we can bring you more ways to enjoy Netflix, like podcasts, live shows and other new experiences, across all plans. Our advertising partners may also use your personal information to show you behavioral ads.' ...

This tracking is enabled by default, but the good news is that you can control your Netflix ad preferences. Go to Your profile -> Account -> Edit settings -> Privacy and data settings -> Allow behavioral advertising ... and toggle it off. Netflix also created this overview about how to stop certain uses of your personal information.

On the Netflix website: Profile-> Edit -> Privacy and data settings -> turn off "Allow behavioral advertising". Also turn off "Allow matched identifier communications".

You can see all the information Netflix has on you. To do so, start at their website, netflix.com, login with your Netflix userid/password, then click on the profile icon in the top right corner, then click on Account, then click on "Download your personal information". While there, you can also remove something from your viewing history: start at Account info, then click on a profile, then Viewing History -> then click the circle on the far right of an item.

March 4, 2026. From Netflix: Netflix Ads Suite Expands Capabilities Quoting: "After launching the Netflix Ads Suite last year, we’re continuing to add new ways for brands to buy and measure ads on Netflix. Advertisers will now be able to tap into new targeting capabilities, better manage how often ads appear across streamers, and reach specific audiences at scale on our ad-supported plan. Starting in Q2 ... clients will have new ways to connect with the right audiences on Netflix through expanded targeting capabilities via Amazon DSP and Yahoo DSP. Advertisers will now be able to leverage Amazon Audiences to inform their programmatic buys on Netflix."
